Long before Private Journeys became known for designing exceptional African safaris, Diane Terry was leading small groups of adventurous women to some of the world’s most remarkable destinations, driven by curiosity, challenge, and a desire to experience the world more deeply.
From the turquoise rapids of the Futaleufú Valley in Patagonia to the hilltop monasteries of Tibet and the towering moai of Easter Island, travelers stepped beyond their comfort zones and discovered the joy of being “unleashed.”
These adventures developed a loyal following and helped shape the philosophy that continues to guide Private Journeys today: travel should be immersive, thoughtfully designed, and grounded in meaningful relationships with the people and places that make a destination extraordinary.
While Private Journeys now focuses primarily on designing highly personalized African safaris, the spirit of those early expeditions continues to inspire the journeys we create today.
