We rose early, had coffee, and departed at 6:00 a.m. for Pushkar. The bus was full of chatter and not many noticed when we turned onto a dirt road for a quick "happy stop." Terri Desalvo started the chorus of "OMG's" when we came upon 10 elephants waiting for us to climb aboard. After the madness of the cities, meandering into the bush on these gentle giants was hypnotic. Peacocks, parrots and other exotic birds flitted about as we rock 'n' rolled atop our colorfully painted pachyderms. Our destination: Breakfast, served by tall, turbaned Rasputs.
