Arusha is a bustling city of 1.5 million active people. It lies close to Mount Meru and Kilimanjaro. We caught our first glimpse of The Sleeping Giant today on our practice trek up the slopes of Mt. Meru. We gazed with combined happiness and anxiety at Kili’s towering crown. After hiking from 4700 feet up to 6500 ft in three hours, we are starting to throw around climbing and altitude lingo like weekend pros. Happy with our hike, we relaxed a bit during our afternoon game drive and have received a pre-climb briefing at dinner: We’re as ready as we’ll ever be!
